Traditional Chinese Medicine

There are different limbs of Chinese Medicine with the most popular being Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient medicine developed in China over 4000 years ago. It looks at the body as a microcosm of the natural cycles that are happening around us and observes the interconnectedness of all the body’s systems. The body is viewed as a whole, when one part is unwell, injured or out of balance, it affects other parts as well. This includes how the mental and emotional body influence the physical body. There are different limbs of Chinese Medicine with the most popular being Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine.

When you come for a TCM Acupuncture treatment, your chief concern will be recognized and targeted, but we will also investigate underlying imbalances in the organ systems that might be attributing to the illness or injury. This is the main difference between TCM acupuncture and dry needling. We will target the local site of injury or illness, but will also put points in other areas to treat the whole body for overall wellness.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is used to target current health issues and is also a preventative medicine. Using a thorough intake of wellness history and constitution as well as tongue and pulse diagnosis, we can investigate underlying imbalances in the organ systems that may predispose you to health concerns down the road. We can work on these imbalances so you can live a healthier, more vibrant life.

Traditional Chinese Medicine also uses many different modalities, so if you come in for an acupuncture treatment you may receive cupping, gua sha, moxibustion as well and will often receive diet therapy and lifestyle advice.

This medicine has been healing people for thousands of years and is used in conjunction with western medicine in hospitals in China today.
